My mission statement is to facilitate empowerment through creative expression. I am a firm believer that art feeds the soul and empowers the psyche. The more universal the thought, form and color, the more powerfully the work will speak to the harmony within each human being.
I was born and raised in California. At an early age, I recognized art as my life path. From 1976-1986, I owned and operated The Hobbit School of Art in Ventura, California, where I taught both children and adults. I previously taught for VSA Arts of Nevada and Ottawa University in Phoenix, Arizona. I hold a BA in Psychology, an MA in Professional Counseling and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Art Therapy. In addition to teaching, I have had many solo shows both in the United States and the Caribbean. My paintings are also included in numerous public and private collections.
Blending traditional color and images with contemporary styles and forms is an important element in understanding my vision and intuitive art. My life is the expression of myself in my art. Painting and teaching are my passion. My current objective is to be true to who I really am as an artist. I strive to explore both cultural and personal expressions. My goal is to create an unselfconsciousness language that helps one look a little closer at the world around us.
"Judith's mural has done more for us than expected. It gives the feeling of calmness and peace that we were looking for but really did not think we could achieve." Dr. William S. Asano, DDS, Ventura, CA
"Judith's soul is reflected in her paintings. It is like magic watching her transform a canvas." Phyllis Dearien, Owner Wellspring Books, Mesa, AZ
"Judith's ability to capture the depth of ones heart with her artwork is beyond measure. As she inspires and uplifts her warmth and genuine love are contagious." Maurie Comenzo, PhD, Phoenix, Az
"I am blessed to have a number of Judith's soul paintings in my home. While they each hold a special meaning for me, my anchor is the Sacred Space painting. When I set up my meditation space in my home, I knew that Sacred Space would be the inspiration." Diana Lewis, Scottsdale, Az
